ROBOT ARM - Documentation & Software CD
All required software tools for your Robot Arm can be found on this page. It depends on your browsers' security settings if you can start the software installation directly from this CD. You may have to save the files to a directory on your hard drive first and then run them from there (right click onto the apropriate link and select the menu item "save target to" or similar).

NOTE: You need to be logged in as Administrator in order to install some of the Software packages on this site!

You need the Adobe® Reader® to view the Manuals and Datasheets on this CD. You can also obtain the latest release directly from http://www.adobe.com/

NOTE: Linux Users should use the Package Manager of their Distribution to install the Adobe Reader.

Java 6 Runtime Environment

You need the Java 6 Runtime Environment for RobotLoader. You can choose between 32 and 64 bit Versions, whichever is suitable for your Operating System.
For Linux you can choose between self extracting or RPM Versions for 32 and 64bit systems. It is recommended that you use the Package Manager of your Linux Distribution if possible!

You can get newer Versions of the JRE here: http://java.sun.com/

Note: Java 6 is not available for old Operating Systems like Windows 98 or Win2K without SP4. Contact us in case you still use such an old Operating System.

»RobotLoader

RobotLoader v.2.5a

This Program has been developed to allow easy and fast program upload to the Microcontrollers of the Robot Arm and some other Robots (like RP6v2). It is written in Java and runs on Windows and Linux. You do not need to install it - you can simply extract it to a folder on your hard drive and start it from there.
If you are using Windows, you have to install the USB driver before you can use this program (see below)!

RACS - Robot Arm Control Software Version V3

This "Robot Arm control Software" Windows Program allows you to control the Robot Arm via the USB Interface. With the Sliders in the Software and Keyboard entries you can control the position of each Servo. Additionally it is possible to program movement sequences.

Visual Basic APC-220 CONTROL APPLICATION

In combination with the APC220, your robot can be controlled with a PC. You will need the "Robot Arm Control Software" (RACS) program to be installed on the PC. With this program you can control the APC-220 settings.

WinAVR Version 20100110

WinAVR is a suite of executable, open source software development tools for the Atmel AVR Microcontrollers. It allows to run AVR-GCC (C-Compiler) and other open source tools on Windows. It is easy to install - just follow the instructions on your screen after launching the installer. Note: There are some different Versions of WinAVR on this CD - this was done in case the newest Version causes Problems.

USB Interface Driver

This is the FTDI USB Driver for Windows (you don't need a Driver for Linux as it is already included in modern Linux Kernels). The newest CDM 2.06.02 Version is available for Win2k/XP/Vista/Win7 32 and 64 Bit. You can use the CDM_Setup to install the Driver BEFORE you attach the USB Interface for the first time. If you want to install it manually, you find the extracted drivers in the apropriate folders on the CD. The Installation is described in the Manual and there are also Installation Guides in the driver folders.

Attention: Windows 7 and Vista may contain a standard Driver for the USB Interface but this one is not complete. It does not have all required Features. So you HAVE TO install the correct Driver BEFORE you attach the USB Interface for the first time. If you did not do this, you have to manually upgrade the Driver with the Windows Device Manager.

Wireless Settings

The "wireless settings software" allows you to change the settings of the blutooth module or wireless APC module.

You also can control your robot with an Android smartphone with the ARX-BT3 Extension kit. Please download the APK file for your robot to your phone and read the wireless manual on how to continue.

avr-gcc, binutils, avr-libc and patches

This folder contains everything required to compile and install the avr-gcc, binutils and avr-libc for Linux. There are several patches that need to be applied to these packages. There is an automatic script that can do this. Of course you can also compile and install everything manually. This is described in the Manual. You should read it, this is not as easy as it is with WinAVR for Windows and you will need to do several things on the commandline...
